The Butterfly Effect Timeline (Original and Alternate Timelines)
1982:
Original timeline(OT): Evan Trebon is born
Altered Timeline #1(AT): Evan strangles himself in the womb and dies as his mother's 3rd stillborn baby. (Director's Cut Ending)
Results:
Evan's mom remarries and has another child, a girl, thus ending the cycle.
Kayleigh goes to live with her mom and never gets abused.
Tommy never becomes a psychopath
They both grow up to have normal childhoods.
Lenny celebrates his 13th birthday,
Tommy graduates High School
Kayleigh and Lenny get married.
1989:
OT: Evan meets Kayleigh at a party (Theatrical Cut) and become friends.(the director's cut omits this part)
AT#1: Evan goes up to Kayleigh and tells her he hates her and threatens to kill her whole damn family if she comes near her again.
Results:
Evan and Kayleigh never become friends.
Kayleigh goes to live with her mom and never gets abused.(Evan was the only reason to stay)
Tommy never becomes a psychopath.
They both grow up to have normal childhoods.
Lenny celebrates his 13th birthday.
Tommy graduates High School.
Evan's mom doesn't take up smoking and die of Lung Cancer
Original Timeline: Kayleigh's father, George, makes Evan and her daughter strip naked and kiss. ("Robin Hood" Event). Kayleigh becomes an "empty shell"
AT #1: Evan gives her father two choices: Ether continue on or treat her like a loving father. He also advises him to discipline Tommy more ("he's one sick puppy.")
Results:
Kayleigh is never abused again
George gave away his camera the next day.
Evan and Keyleigh's friendship grows
Tommy becomes a psychopath (because of Evan's advice to George)
Evan moves away but returns for her
They become BF/GF ("hell or high water")
Kayleigh & Evan goes to college Kayleigh joins a Sorority & Evan joins a Fraternity
Evan and Thumper are not dorm mates and enemies..
AT #2: Evan finds the blockbuster bomb and lights it. George tries to get the blockbuster but it rolls toward Kayleigh, she picks it up and is killed in the explosion.
Result: Evan is driven mad and institutionalized, no more diary entries beyond this point.
OT: April 15th: Evan meets his father Jason Trebon and nearly gets nearly killed (strangled to death). He is then accidentally killed by the hospital staff. Later buried.
1995:
OT: Evan, Lenny, Kayleigh, and Tommy blow up a mailbox. They end up blowing up the mailbox and killing the mother and her child. Lenny is traumatized.
AT #1: Evan drops a cigarette on his shirt and it burns through to his chest, the mailbox blows up killing the mother and child. (no major alteration to the timeline except for the cigarette burn) (Lenny: "make one peep and it'll be your last, motherfucker!")
OT: Evan Kayleigh, and Tommy go see Se7en. Kayleigh is an "empty shell"
OT: Evan moves away and leaves Kayleigh behind and never comes back for her.
OT: Kayleigh, Evan, and Lenny find Tommy about to burn Evan's dog alive. Evan gets disoriented for a second (time jump) and gets clocked by Tommy. Crockett gets burned alive in the bag because Lenny couldn't cut the rope.
AT#1: Prior to finding Tommy, Evan hands Lenny a metal shard to help him cut the bag open the bag and set Crockett free. Instead Lenny stabs Tommy in the back and kills him.
AT#2:
2002:
In college, Evan time jumps back to 1995 to the "dog burning" event (accidentally) and discovers his new power.
Evan goes to Lenny's house and sees an obviously traumatized Lenny (from the "dog burning" and "mailbox" events), painting airplane models, he snaps. ("I swear, you make one peep, and it'll be your last, motherfucker!")
Evan time jumps back to 1995's "mailbox" event (on purpose) and ends up altering the timeline (slightly)
Results: Evan ends up with a burn on his chest.
Evan runs into Kayleigh at a restaurant where she works. She ended up committing suicide after the encounter.
Evan buries the flowers and the note he wrote in 1995 ("I'LL COME BACK FOR YOU")
Evan time jumps back to 1995 "Robin Hood" Event
2010:
Evan runs into Kayleigh (but they don't notice each other) They both have a "weird feeling" afterwards and go their separate ways (Theatrical Ending)
Evan runs into Kayleigh and they go for a cup of coffee (Alternate Ending #1)
Evan sees Kayleigh and starts to go after her. Fade to black (Alternate Ending #2 "Open-ended ending")
